Fall is full of color and style, and it’s never more evident than with the chrysanthemum. This essential fall flower reflects the style, beauty, and texture we crave during the fall season. Adding these blooms to your home’s decor is a quick and simple way to give your home a fresh fall update. Send these beautiful blooms to someone special during the fall months to welcome the season. The floral experts at Ron & Alicia Robinson Florist have some great tips about care for your mums once you have them in your home. But first, it’s important to choose your favorite variety. Here are some of ours:
Cremon Mums
Cremons are a disbud type of mum characterized by one large, round bud per stem with tightly packed petals giving it a full and abundant look. Disbuds are made by removing all of the side buds when the plant is young. Examples of the cremon mum, daisy mums, and cushion mums can be seen in our Autumn Expressions Bouquet.
Spider Mums
The spider mum is the other example of a disbud mum, except it has tubular petals. With long, spindly rays that resemble a spider’s legs, it’s easy to see where this variety of mums gets its name. Delicate and lacy, and available in a rainbow of colors, spider mums can add a pop of color as well as an exotic texture to any floral display. As the bright purple standouts in our Fall Brights Bouquet, spider mums lend a textural contrast to the smoother blooms surrounding them.
Caring For Mums
Once you’ve chosen your favorite variety and color of chrysanthemums, you’ll want to keep them for as long as possible. Caring for them properly will ensure lasting blooms all season long. Be sure to strip stems of their leaves before placing in fresh water (this keeps the water from becoming cloudy). Add fresh water and replenish daily to the same level. Place mums in a cool, dry spot, away from hot spots like heating vents and electrical appliances. If water does become cloudy, replace with new water. You’ll get to enjoy your gorgeous mums all season long and so will everyone who visits your home during the fall season.
Make sure your home is fall-ready by including chrysanthemums in your fall decor. Brighten every room by choosing complementary colors in styles you love. Taking good care of your blooms will keep them looking fresh and vibrant all season long.
