It’s In the Stars: Both the sapphire and the aster have celestial origins, and both of their names are derived from ancient words which mean “star”. The sapphire was thought to not only be the reason for the sky’s vivid coloring, but also was considered a divine gift from the gods. And the aster, star-like in shape and appearance, was once believed to be the manifestation of stardust on the earth.
Brilliant Sapphire Blue: Using the gemstone sapphire as inspiration for September birthday arrangements means utilizing one of the unique true-blue flower varieties. These include blue delphinium, larkspur, blue iris, or blue hydrangea. Although they do not occur naturally, dyed blue orchids are also a striking and elegant choice for bouquets.
September Asters: As one of the few flowers that begins blooming in late summer and early fall, the aster is an obvious choice for September birth flower.
