Each Autumn, families gather together in celebration of the multiple generations that comprise their family. Grandparents Day, observed on the second Sunday in September, is a time for children to honor their grandparents, for grandparents to show love to their children’s children, and to teach children about the strength, information and guidance they can gain from older people. Marian McQuade began this day to keep these relationships special. At Ron & Alicia Robinson Florist, we encourage you to bring or send your grandparents their favorite flowers to show your love and respect this year.
Surely, two of the most satisfying experiences in life must be those of being a grandchild or a grandparent.
~Donald A. Norberg
When Marian McQuade sent the draft of a bill to Congress, asking for the institution of National Grandparents Day, she had a distinct vision as to what the purpose of the day should be. The West Virginia mother of 15 (and grandmother to many more) wanted a time set aside to honor traditions and family history as communicated by the older generations. She also felt it was an effective way to encourage families to gather often to share and learn from each other. In 1978, Congress agreed, and the first Sunday after Labor Day was designated. This year, Grandparents Day falls on September 10. If you are looking for beautiful flowers and plants to honor these special people, look no further than Ron & Alicia Robinson Florist. September 11 is Grandparent’s Day, a holiday to celebrate some of the most amazing people in our lives. They are our best friends, our confidants, our personal cookie bakers and our biggest supporters. They keep our secrets and share their wisdom. In fact, the bond between grandchildren and their grandparents is one of the strongest relationships that exists. Ron & Alicia Robinson Florist is your partner in choosing beautiful Grandparent’s Day gifts for the best people in the world.
Everyone loves receiving a lavish bouquet of flowers, and your Grandmother is no exception. Our Talk of the Town design features exotic blooms that reflect her beauty, and the purple colors signify regal elegance and royalty. What a gorgeous way to honor who she is, and to tell her how much you love her.
But let’s not forget about your grandfather! Green plants are an awesome gift for him, as they are known to purify the air and promote well-being in any space. We have a full selection of green and flowering plants, but one of our favorites is the money tree. It represents good fortune and prosperity, is believed to bring good luck, and is a thoughtful gift for any study, den or office. This distinguished tree is potted in a geometric black container and exudes sophistication.
These are only two of the many Grandparent’s Day gifts that are available at Ron & Alicia Robinson Florist. Both of these products are available for nationwide or local delivery, but we have a suggestion for you. If your grandparents live in Whittier, Rowland Heights or Glendora, stop by one of our flower shops and pick out a beautiful Grandparent’s Day gift, then bring it personally to them. A gift from the heart – combined with time spent with you – will make this a special Grandparent’s Day indeed. September 11 is right around the corner, so call us today!
